I graduated top 10% from Homer Hanna High in Brownsville, TX in 1996.
I then made my way to San Antonio where I started my bachelors in science course work at the University of Texas at San Antonio. While in San Antonio, I worked for several corporate institutions, including JP Morgan Chase and Citibank NA.
I ultimately made my way back to the Rio Grande Valley in 2008 in order to be closer to family. I was able to finish my degree at the University of Texas Pan American where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology & Chemistry and graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors).
While at UTPA I was awarded the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research grant where I researched bacterial protein synthesis systems with the purpose of developing novel antibiotics.
My passion for the sciences has led me to a fulfilling career in teaching. I teach so that I may ignite a moment of insight.
In my spare time I like to read, spend time outdoors, but most of all have quality time with my wife and two sons. I am convinced that the meaning of life is to enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
